Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (Priargunsky)(Trans-Baikal Territory, Krasnokamensk)
Set up in 1968, Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (PJSC PIMCU) is currently the largest uranium mining company in Russia.
The company performs underground mining of uranium at the following mines: Mine No. 1, Mine No. 2, the Gluboky Mine, Mine 6R, and Mine No. 8. Ore is processed at a hydrometallurgy plant and at a heap leaching unit. The company’s end product is triuranium octoxide — U3O8.
Major results in 2013:
2,133 tons of uranium produced (+132 tons as compared to the 2012 data);
6 new stopes and 3 semi-units commissioned. This provided for an increase in the volume of prepared reserves by 665,000 tons of ore (1,030 tons of uranium);
A 3-D geological and surveying model of Mine No.8 built;
Development of Mine No.8 achieved the final phase, with the target production volume of 370,000 tons of ore per year; Completion is scheduled for 2014;
3,48 mln. tons of uranium mined, which is 416 000 tons more than the 2012 volumes;
Construction of a new administration and amenity facility of the Urtuiskoye open cast mining office completed;
Main steam pipelines at the second-phase Thermal Power Station replaced;
Reconstruction works completed and a pilot Leach Plant commissioned.
